This is another installment in my ongoing series of out-of-the-box wedding ideas, I’ve got a new one for you. This one features another all-in-one museum ceremony and reception, but this time instead of an art museum, we’re going to explore natural history–at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, of course! (just click on any of the photographs in this post to enjoy a larger view)
When I found out that Sunita was having BOTH her ceremony AND reception there, I thought, hmm, I wonder how that would play out in terms of their wedding photography. But as soon as I stepped through the door and saw the floor to ceiling window with its natural light falling softly onto the ceremony area, I knew that I would have no problems; I could photograph without a flash (which I normally do to remain unobtrusive) and the lighting would be perfect!
Sunita enjoyed the expansive dressing area for her preparation. She and Vince opted for the “first look” outside of the bride’s dressing area on the second level (the stairway leading up to it made her grand entrance spectacular!). They also decided (as many couples now do) to photograph with their immediate family as well. That way they would have more time to spend with their guests after the ceremony.
More and more, this coming together of couples with their families and friends prior to the ceremony is becoming an acceptable and even desirable practice! As with the Akron Art Museum, there are exciting exhibits that your wedding guests can enjoy along with you. Here, there is a myriad of displays that feature fun facts and fossils from millions of years ago.
After the ceremony, the guests were treated to a show of stars in the planetarium and then cocktails in an adjoining exhibit area outside. When you are surrounded by so many interesting objects, you and your guests will never get bored!
