Rhianne and Geoffrey’s love of the lakefront led them to this special place. With the gazebo, flower garden and huge beach, it made for some great photo opportunities, especially around sunset.
Sadly, Rhianne’s parents had passed away, so she set up their framed portrait on a table so their loving presence could be felt. Since this was the one and only time they would have to practice, the entire bridal party rehearsed prior to the ceremony. In my experiences, I have found that even a quick, informal rehearsal just prior to the wedding makes everyone feel a lot more relaxed and comfortable.
The couple exchanged their vows on the steps of the gazebo. Ryan Bomba officiated the ceremony. Charlie dutifully marched the rings up the aisle followed by little Allison, who sat in mom’s arms as she floated handfuls of rose petals onto the sidewalk runner. Geoffrey stood proudly as he watched his beautiful bride, Rhianne approach, flanked by her brothers, Andrew and Jared.
After their ring exchange, the couple blended their families by pouring red and lavender grains of sand into a glass vial. Later, Rhianne and brothers, Andrew and Jared posed with their parents’ portrait against the greenery of Lakewood Park.
After photographing the family groups, I snuck out with Rhianne and Geoffrey for some romantic sunset wedding shots against the waning Erie skyline. The couple released a balloon, which quickly lofted skyward and then, as if on cue, into the setting sun.
An informal wedding reception was held afterwards at Applebees Grill in Elyria, Ohio. The couple generously comped my dinner, for which I am very grateful! I captured some candids of the families as well as a photograph of Rhianne and Geoffrey proudly holding their marriage license!
What a wonderful time I had photographing the wedding of such a lovely couple!
