Engagement sessions are a big hit with couples these days, primarily because they get to meet and work with their potential wedding photographer. From the privacy of your home to anywhere in the great outdoors (Caribbean islands, anyone?) there are unlimited places to get some fun engagement photos. Since they wanted to explore the opportunities for their creative adventure, Danni and Jeff chose both.
The magical moments happen only when you build trust with your photographer. That’s why we’ll spend some time getting to know one another before my camera even comes out of my bag.
With that in mind, I’d like to share a video that illustrates the many moods and expressions of my couples. I hope that you can get some inspiration for some really fun engagement photos!
Sometimes when I’m in a funk or just working at my computer, I get an unexpected hug or a kiss from my wife and it feels so good! I like to surprise her with caresses too. I love to see her smile up at me in appreciation. During our photo session, there will be many opportunities for moments like this, where you can just be yourselves and pretend I’m not even there.
Intimacy is a language that engages all of your senses, primarily of touch. One of my favorite ways to capture couples is in the anticipation of it. Whether you’re cuddling or standing close to each other, the anticipation builds as one of you leans in for a kiss. This is a great option for first-time clients who might still be a bit timid in front of the camera. A classic song comes to mind that illustrates this beautifully:
“You’ll never know how great a kiss can feel when you stop at the top of a ferris wheel when I fell in love down at Palisades Park”…
Where did the proposal take place? Let me know in the comments below. That could serve as a great photo-op for a misty-eyed replay. Amusement parks, metro parks, your favorite restaurant, ice cream shop, or hangout can really get the emotions flowing as well.
